After I exhausted all of my options, I knew it was all up to me, but I didn't know what to do.
I had a general understanding of what needed to be done, but I couldn't even properly assess my horse's feet to know the first step to take to achieve an adequate trim.
I didn't know how to effectively use my tools
I didn't know how much hoof to remove with my nippers or rasp
I didn't know how to assess for balance, nor what that really meant
I didn't know that every day I spent procrastinating, my mare was in discomfort
I didn't know what I was going to do without a professional...
If only I had known the 6 steps of the PAPSEE method.
The PAPSEE method didn't exist then, but it does now.
Learning to trim hooves can feel like an overwhelming undertaking.
That's why I broke it down into easy-to-comprehend lessons that will set you and your animals up for safety and success.
Learn from a combination of demonstrations, real-world videos shot from a camera mounted to my head while I trimmed, and lecture-style presentations designed to enhance your knowledge of safe barefoot hoof trimming.
and you could be trimming by this weekend!

I'm the founder of this website, and because I have spent the last 20 years working with horses, I'm still coming to terms with "founder" as a positive term.
This course was born out of necessity. It didn't exist when I found myself in a predicament: I was living in a remote area with no qualified farriers available to me. I found a single prospect, and after setting up an initial appointment, he ghosted me. I was in a tough spot.
I know other horse owners have had the same trouble finding and keeping a reliable farrier. In an ideal world, a highly trained, qualified, and affordable farrier would be available for every horse. Until that time comes, I designed this course to help fill the gaps.
I look forward to seeing you in class!
I want you to feel 100% comfortable with your choice to use my course as your foundation.
